As a Savannah wedding photographer, there’s something about Savannah that makes a wedding feel both grand and deeply personal at the same time. The moss hangs low, the light wraps softly around historic brick, and time seems to slow down just enough to let you breathe it all in.
This particular day? Sixteen guests. No production. No rush. Just intention.
And honestly… those are always the ones that linger.

The day began in a charming VRBO tucked along W. Jones Street – one of the most romantic streets in Savannah. Brick sidewalks, towering oaks, wrought iron railings, and that unmistakable Southern hush.
The bride stepped into her gown near tall windows that let in the prettiest natural light. Meanwhile, just a few rooms away, the groom adjusted his suit, surrounded by the calm confidence that only comes from knowing you’re about to marry your person – one more time.
With only 16 guests total, every face mattered. Every hug lasted longer. Every moment carried weight.
Savannah does small weddings so beautifully – it invites you in instead of overwhelming you.

The ceremony took place inside the breathtaking Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist – and if you’ve ever stepped inside, you know.
The soaring ceilings.
The stained glass filtering jewel-toned light.
The quiet reverence that fills the space before vows are spoken.
This Savannah wedding photographer’s dream.
Even with a smaller guest count, the grandeur of the cathedral never overshadowed the intimacy. In fact, it amplified it. You could hear every word of Ava Maria echo gently through the sanctuary. You could see tears without craning your neck. It felt sacred in the truest sense.
When they were pronounced husband and wife, applause filled the cathedral – Only sixteen guests, but the celebration filled every corner of the cathedral.

After the ceremony, we stepped back into the warmth of Savannah’s afternoon light and wandered along Jones Street and nearby Forsyth Park..
This is where Savannah shows off a little.
Historic brick façades.
Gas lanterns.
Soft shadows from oak branches overhead.
We kept portraits relaxed and unhurried. No timeline pressure. No large wedding party to coordinate. Just the two of them walking hand-in-hand down one of the most iconic streets in the South.
These are the kinds of images that feel like heirlooms – not because they’re styled to perfection, but because they’re rooted in place and memory.

Savannah has always had a way of making romance feel cinematic. But when you pair that Southern charm with a smaller guest list? It becomes something even more powerful.
More conversation.
More connection.
More presence.
From getting ready on W. Jones Street to vows inside the Cathedral Basilica to portraits beneath the oaks near Forsyth Park, this wedding was proof that you don’t need a crowd to create something extraordinary.
You just need intention.
And Savannah.
If you’re dreaming of an intimate Savannah wedding – one rooted in history, romance, and timeless Southern elegance – this city will meet you there every time.
