What are extended family sessions??
An extended family session is a photo session that includes multiple generations during one session time. Most extended families have three, and sometimes four generations. These sessions are usually planned during or around a family vacation or a gathering for a special event…such as milestone birthdays.
What is the process of an extended family session?
I like to start with the full group. Once we photograph a few options we will then separate the families. From there, we will break it down even further…grandparents with their children, and grandparents with their grandchildren. We’ll let the siblings take a few and then we’ll move on to the cousins. My favorite part of the session is the end where I will let you all play or hang out with each other. By this time, you’re relaxed and enjoying each other’s company. This is when I usually get the best shots of the night!

Not sure what to wear to your extended family session.
Choose two or three colors for everyone to wear. You want to blend and play off of each other’s outfits without perfectly matching. Lighter colors work best if you are wanting clean and classic edits. The most important part…be comfortable and be yourselves!!
